The Leander Citizens Police Academy (CPA) provides a new understanding of law enforcement through lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on exercises. The CPA provides you with an abbreviated version similar to police recruit training.
The CPA meets every Monday night, from 6 to 9 pm for twelve weeks, and is offered at no charge to the participants. Class size is limited and assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. This 12-week course is filled with helpful information and adventures that will provide you with memories for a lifetime. This dynamic program is offered to Leander residents at least 18 years of age with no prior felony convictions.
Participants enjoy an opportunity to learn new things and meet other community members. Topics of instruction and activities will include:
- Criminal Justice System Overview
- Legalities of Arrest, Search and Seizure
- Use of Force by Law Enforcement
- Crime Prevention, Community Policing
- Criminal Investigations and Crime Scenes
- Traffic Stops - Techniques and Practical Exercise
