Chief's Message
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Leander Police Department's webpage. This site was created to provide Leander residents and visitors with important information concerning your police department and public safety in our community. We wanted a place where you could learn more about the services we provide, but more importantly, a place that would improve the communication between the department and the citizens we serve.
I have immense pride in being a member of the law enforcement profession and especially being part of the Leander Police Department. I started here in 1995 as a reserve police officer. I've held every rank through the years and consider it a tremendous privilege to have been appointed as the Chief of Police in July 2012.
As the Police Chief of a professional and progressive department, it is my primary objective to have an organization whose skills and abilities are second to none. Our team works hard to maintain a high level of excellence, which is exhibited by our national recognition and accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA.org).
Leander remains one of the fastest-growing cities in Williamson County, and with that growth comes many challenges to providing law enforcement services to our community. Reducing crime and improving the quality of life for our citizens are two of our highest operational priorities. We understand that building, cultivating, and maintaining the community's trust and developing community partnerships are the key elements in our crime reduction efforts. We are committed to the ideals of "partnership-based policing," which can only be accomplished by developing close working relationships with our neighborhoods and businesses.
I am a firm believer in surrounding oneself with exemplary people, and I greatly appreciate the opportunity to watch, listen, and learn from many dedicated community servants, such as council members, the city manager, city department heads, city employees, and members of the Leander Police Department. Each day I will work hard to follow their good examples and lead your police department in a professional, responsible, and progressive direction.
I look forward to working with you to keep Leander a great place to live, work, and play. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about the Leander Police Department, contact me via email or at 512-528-2800.
Sincerely,
Greg Minton
