There are certain exceptions to disclosure that exist under the Texas Public Information Act, to protect against the disclosure of confidential information (i.e., juvenile information). For this reason, we strongly urge you to be as specific as possible in your request for information contained in a criminal case file.
For example, if all you need is a list/description of the items/property that your case is written about, request that. Although government agencies have 10 days to respond to your written request, being specific greatly reduces processing time.
Asking for anything other than public information requires an opinion from the TX Attorney General. You may wish to visit the Office of the Attorney General's office website for a detailed description of the Act.
