Support Services Division
The Support Services Division is under the command of Lieutenant Jackson Mitchell.
Support Services Division is the most diverse of the Department's services, which include Community Services, School Resource Officers, Professional Standards, Animal Services, CALEA Accreditation Management, and a number of additional administrative services.
Programs coordinated by personnel in Community Services include the Citizens Police Academy, Police Explorers youth program, National Night Out, and the Annual Blue Santa, as well as many other crime prevention and community education programs.

Animal Services
Animal Service's duties include routine patrol for violations of city animal ordinances and related laws. Officers have the authority to issue citations for state health and safety codes and other city violations as deemed appropriate.

Honor Guard
A primary role of the Leander Police Department honor guard is to provide funeral honors for fallen officers and other civil servants. We also serve as the "guardians of the colors" by displaying and escorting the American flag, Texas Flag, and police department flag at official functions.

Professional Standards
Professional Standards encompasses three main areas: Recruiting/Hiring, Training and Internal Affairs.

Training
The department hosts law enforcement/communications classes primarily provided by the Texas Municipal Police Association and Capitol Area Planning Council Of Governments. Our training room may be available for outside agency use.

Youth Curfew
As our community population continues to grow, the Leander Police Department employs a variety of strategies and positive reinforcement tools to keep our city safe. A citywide youth curfew is one method used by police to reduce the likelihood of youth-related crime and victimization. The curfew ordinance has been in effect since 2016.
