July Is Parks & Recreation Month

City of Leander Celebrations

Parks are at the center of so many experiences and memories. Our local parks are often our first experiences in nature, our introduction to a favorite hobby or physical activity. They are places to gather with friends and family, spaces to celebrate life's special moments, spots of respite and healing and so much more. This year for Park and Recreation Month, we invite the Leander Community to celebrate with us, check out the fun opportunities below.

Special Events

Liberty Fest: Monday, July 3, at 6 pm, Celebrate Fourth of July with Liberty Fest at Devine Lake Park! Leander's largest annual event includes live music, food, children's activities, and a spectacular fireworks display. Admission is free. View more information on the Liberty Fest page.

Teen Night at the Pool: Friday, July 7, at 7 pm, participants ages 13 to 17 can hang out on the deck or float in the Robin Bledsoe Pool, 601 S Bagdad Road. The event is scheduled from 7 pm to 9 pm. Admission is free.

Itty Bitty Beach Party: Saturday, July 8, from 9 am to 11 am at the Robin Bledsoe Pool. Bring the little ones out for a day of fun in the sun at this Hawaiian themed luau at the Robin Bledsoe Pool, 601 S Bagdad Road! This event caters to our smaller swimmers (ages 12 and younger) and allows them to play without the worry of too many big kids! Themed contests make the day even more exiting! Admission cost is regular pool fees.

Dive-in Movie featuring Moana: Friday, July 14, at 7:30 pm, dive in and watch the Moana Movie on the big screen at Robin Bledsoe Pool, 601 S Bagdad Road. Participants can hang out on the deck or float in the pool. Gates open at 7:30 pm and close after the movie is finished. The movie will begin at dusk. Admission cost is regular pool fees.

Poolside Concert featuring Vinyl Flashback: Friday, July 21, at 6:30 pm, hang out on the deck or float in the Robin Bledsoe Pool, 601 S Bagdad Road, while listening to Vinyl Flashback perform. Gates open at 6:30 pm and close after the concert has concluded at 9 pm. Admission cost is regular pool fees.

Community Wellness Events

Free Community Yoga | Saturday, July 1, at 10 am
Enjoy a morning workout with the entire family led by our yoga instructor. This is a free workout geared towards all ages at the Leander Activity Center, 11880 Hero Way West, Suite 600.

Free Community Zumba | Saturday, July 29, at 10 am
Enjoy a morning workout with the entire family led by a certified Zumba instructor. This is a free workout for all ages at the Leander Activity Center, 11880 Hero Way West, Suite 600.

Discount Days

Wednesdays in July are Dollar Days at Robin Bledsoe Pool, 601 S Bagdad Road. Cool off on any Wednesday in July for just $1. Operating hours are noon to 6 pm

National Days with Tasty Treats

Cookie Celebration on Monday, July 10. Parks and Recreation staff will hand out free cookies while supplies last at Lakewood Park (Live Oak Pavilion), 2040 Artesian Springs Xing, at 11 am

Freezer Pops on Thursday, July 20. Parks and Recreation staff will hand out free tasty treats while supplies last at Lakewood Park (Live Oak Pavilion), 2040 Artesian Springs Xing, at 11 am

Hot Fudge Sundaes on Tuesday, July 25. Parks and Recreation staff will hand out free hot fudge sundaes while supplies last at Lakewood Park (Live Oak Pavilion), 2040 Artesian Springs Xing, at 11 pm.
