Special Operations Team

The Leander Fire Department's Special Operations Team consists of 24 highly trained firefighters. The purpose of the team is to respond to rescue incidents that require specialized equipment, skills, and techniques. The types of incidents the team prepares for are: water rescue, high/low angle rope rescue, confined space rescue, trench rescue, and structural collapse rescue.

To ensure readiness, the Rescue Team trains monthly with other Williamson County fire departments. The Special Operations Team also provides awareness and operations level rescue training for the remainder of the department's firefighters.
