In order to provide an increased opportunity for citizen input in City government, the Mayor and City Council appoint citizens to various boards, committees, and commissions.

Board of Adjustment / Appeal
The Board of Adjustment/Appeal have the power to hear and determine appeals from the refusal of building permits, appeals resulting from administrative decisions and to permit exception to or variation from the zoning regulations.

Bond Task Force
The Bond Task Force is an ad hoc committee appointed by Leander City Council to help identify and prioritize unfunded city projects in preparation for a general obligation bond election.

Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority (BCRUA)
The Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority (BCRUA) is a partnership among the cities of Cedar Park, Leander, and Round Rock to treat and distribute water from the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA).

Charter Review Commission
The purpose of the Charter Review Commission is to review, hold hearings upon, and make recommendations to the Council, if any, of proposed amendments to the city's home rule charter.

Economic Development Committee
Established by city ordinance, the Economic Development Committee supports, promotes, encourages, and advocates for developments that strengthen the local economy and diversify the tax base in a way that is consistent with the character of Leander.

Ethics Commission
The Ethics Commission shall render advisory opinions and make recommendations to the City Council on potential conflicts of interest or violations of the Ethics Ordinance at the request of a public servant.

Historical Preservation Commission
Established in 2017, the Historical Preservation Commission makes recommendations to the city council on the enhancement, protection and perpetuation of landmarks or districts of historical and cultural importance to the city of Leander, Texas.

Mayor's Ad Hoc Committee
The Mayor's ad hoc committee was established April 7, 2022, to promote beautification, conservation, volunteerism and community engagement.

Parks & Recreation Advisory Board
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board reviews policy issues regarding city owned and operated parks and recreation activities in Leander.

Planning & Zoning Commission
Established by state law, the Planning and Zoning Commission reviews proposed developments that could impact Leander's growth and environment to ensure compliance with City of Leander development standards.

Public Arts & Culture Commission
The Public Arts and Culture Commission encourages, conducts and sponsors public and nonprofit programs that further the development and interest in fine and performing arts in Leander.

Williamson County & Cities Health District
The Williamson County and Cities Health District has provided public health services to Williamson County since 1943. Our Public Health Centers and offices are located in Cedar Park, Round Rock, and Taylor.
