09/22/2023 — At its regular meeting Thursday, Sept. 21, Leander City Council selected Isaac Turner to serve as interim city manager while the city begins its search for a new manager.
Leander's current city manager Rick Beverlin resigned on Aug. 22 to accept a city manager position in Nacogdoches, Texas. Contingent upon finalizing a contract with the city, Turner will start Monday, Oct. 16.
Turner previously held interim city manager positions in Hutto and Bridgeport, Texas, and also served as city manager of Taylor, Texas, from 2014 to 2019. He has more than three decades of municipal government experience in Texas and Florida and is currently president of ID Turner Solutions, LLC, which provides consulting to entities navigating governmental services.
Turner earned his master’s degree in public administration from the University of Kansas and a bachelor's degree in political science from Kansas State University. Turner has experience in visioning and goal setting for city organizations as well as managing development services, economic development, growth management, capital projects, budgeting, and staff development.
Strategic Government Resources
At a special meeting Monday, Sept. 18, Council approved a contract with recruiting firm Strategic Government Resources to assist in a formal search for a new city manager. Solicitation of city manager candidate applications is expected to begin in October.
